You look like you're from the Dharma Initiative.

The resurgence of vintage glasses and sunglasses had us thinking this morning. Was it the "geek-chique" of college and university parties that brought them back into fashion, or was it just the overall vintage look that did the job? It was suggested to me that it was none of the above and it was 3D glasses that were responsible. They left the room quickly after this.

The wayfarers seem most popular. Dark-rimmed and defining with the little metal bits on the side, they're benefiting most from the return of the clear-lensed reading aide.

Ray-Ban have also done quite well out of this. A popular brand decades ago, their status was beginning to drop. Just as they were going out of fashion, they were whipped back in by the vintage revolution. That's like lobbing mouldy cheddar in the bin, only to discover that blue cheese is now the "thayng".

Of course, they also cashed in on the wayfarer look themselves. People will pay a bomb for a brand nowadays. Personally I think it spoils the idea of "vintage", going round charity shops picking up genuinely vintage items instead of something which was probably made last year in Vietnam. But there we go.

Thankfully the corporates aren't the only people out there in the markets. Many thanks to The Urban Gentleman for this photo:

The tortoise-shell look is a personal favourite of ours. Superman wears them, so what more could you want? There's a wicked pair going on Rokit at the moment.

That all said, some vintage glasses we're seeing around make us wonder when they were ever fashionable in the first place. A great website for working out what shapes suit your particular face shape is www.framesdirect.com. There's a nice little interactive guide knocking around there that tells you which frames you should go for and which look better as zimmer frames than reading frames.
